“A hike through the Gospels with an experienced guide and spiritual leader.” –J. Carl Laney
Enjoy what’s best about walking tours from the comfort of your living room: learn the unique and hidden details of a place, immerse yourself in its sights and sounds, and discover new wonder in the where, when, and who.
John Beck will transform the way you understand the life of Jesus. In 150 key events from the gospels with 70 photos plus maps and charts, you will explore Jesus’s teachings in His context, bringing the Bible into living color—and bringing Jesus closer to your heart than ever before.
Someday I would love to go to Israel. But for now, I appreciate authors who can bring that location to life. John A. Beck’s books do exactly that. As a frequent traveler to Israel, he knows how to bring the country to life. Since he is also a scholar and educator, he is able to research and share interesting tidbits about all of the places. This book is organized according to the chronological life of Jesus. On almost every page spread, there is a photo the location, a map or an illustration that helps bring the place to life. As a geography teacher, I love it when modern places are connected to historical narrative. Especially when the book involved is the Bible. This book has found a permanent place on my shelves as I will reference often as I study the gospels.
I purchased this for my child’s curriculum and loved it for myself! Every entry was captivating and meaningful. It’s the next best thing to walking the Holy Land in person. This is an excellent resource for anyone studying the New Testament.

This book, while very insightful and inspirational, was the opposite approach from what I expected. Having had the extreme pleasure of walking Israel with Dr. Beck, I expected he would take us from site-to-site commenting on the biblical event which occurred there. Actually, he takes particular Gospel events and provides us location and a sense of place. Very, very insightful.
A great addition to add to your Bible reference collection.
